 In
the 1790s a young English politician, from a wealthy background,
had a radical religious encounter with the followers of the
famous Revivalist preacher, John Wesley. William Wilberforce's
life was so transformed that he questioned whether he could
remain in the service of the infamously corrupt 18th century
British Parliament.
After
consulting with his mentor, John Newton, he was advised
to serve where he was saved. He went back to his political
career with a fresh vision for how God and His Word could
transform all of society.
The
result of Wilberforce's poitical campaigning was the single
greatest period of social reformation in
the history of any Western society.

Wilberforce
influenced Kings, Political Leaders, and entire nations,
yet for most of his life faced huge opposition.
This
DVD presentation briefly overviews the life of William Wilberforce.
It discusses the key people and moments in his life where
he made significant strides in the social reformation of
England. It seeks to show how these same principles could
be applied today and highlights some people who have done
just that.

This
was recorded before a live audience at Legana Christian Church
in Tasmania. The tenor of the session was to carefully
examine William Wilberforce's life in the light of
what the New Testament teaches. This would make an ideal
resource for either personal investigation or small group
discussion.
